Are you ready to really stretch your photography skills from any starting point?  If so, this site is for you.  This site is about learning to utilize your camera to capture the widest range of exposures possible so your range of photography is magnified!  Are you new to photography, or have you been around for a while?

If you just purchased your first DSLR camera (Digital Single Lens Reflex…basically, a nice camera with interchangeable lenses.), or you’ve had it for a while but want to break away from using it like a nicer point and shoot.  Not to worry, this app is for you!  Refer to Key Terms and then Exposure boot camp to start at the basics of finding and exploring proper exposure so you can be up and running, or of course have a place to run back to as you get all of this figured out.  It’s a free resource so please utilize it as much as possible. Plus, if you have the paid version of the app, the Key Terms have been cooked right into the app!

If you’re not new, you’re old.  Well, that sucks profoundly!  Ok, so I mean in photography experience you’ve been at it for a while and want to stretch yourself more then you’ve been. Perhaps you’ve tried a 365 photo project and didn’t really make it that far?  Yep, me too.  I made it to about 49 days and then life took over for a few weeks.  By the time I pulled myself together to start again I lacked motivation because I felt I’d already tried all the things I could think of or ran out of subjects. Plus, once you can’t say, “You’ve accomplished 365 days strait of photography” what’s the point?  Well, 365 Photo King is your solution!  Do your best and the app will track your progress and see that this year you accomplished 45%, so next year you can shoot for 50%.  That easy!

365 Photography King is about rocking your photography skill as you have to stretch yourself to create exposure in some of the most extreme exposure conditions.  You will learn to understand the relationship between the camera’s exposure setting and the light required to make an exposure. (Hence you will come up with all kinds of ways to add and subtract light that no one has dreamed up before.  From sunlight, to car headlights, continuous studio lights, strobes, to flashlights, you will be surprised!)  You will take that knowledge and push it farther as you add design elements to a prescribed subject matter.  My biggest tip is to be creative and think outside the box!

So let’s back up for a minute and let me reflect to see if any of this resonates with you.  I’ve been studying photography for a number of years and I’m a complete whore for photography training.  I love learning new styles, techniques, and all things photography!  With all my training, there still seemed to be a problem.  I was missing some core fundamentals about exposure, light, and what extremes I could push my camera to. Additionally, my creativity has been for crap! I didn’t cognitively understand the true versatility of my camera to create a multitude of visual effects by simple and slight changes to my exposure setting.  This idea led to the development of the 365 Photo King app and this site.

I make no claims of being a rock star photographer.  I’ve worked as a professional in the business for years but glory hounding was never my deal for some reason. I know members of this site WILL rock images I would never even think to create!  As a community we can really grow with each other to achieve that next level and become Photography Kings! (Or Queens as 365 Photo King is an equal opportunity photography site! :-) )

Speaking of communities!  Feel free, and it is free, to join the 365 Photography King groups on Flicker and the Facebook fan page so you can post your images and share with the community.  As great images show up, don’t be surprised if I ask for interviews!  I have a hope that this blog will help you as a photographer to get some exposure of your own!  Part of my dream for this app and site is to help boost members of the community to a higher level of success as photographers and get them the recognition they deserve!

Lastly, as mentioned above, 365 Photo King is active on Facebook as well.  I would love to hear from you and share in your successes.  Some of the setting that come out of the app are in NO-WAY easy, so share images from those suckers and let us all see your skills!

Thanks for visiting the site and I wish you the best of luck on your journey!

Have you exposed today?
